I figured I should tell my story which I never wanted anyone to know but I don’t want to just raise money I want to raise awareness. Here goes nothing....I had been getting symptoms for over a year and of course ignored them...finally I went to a doctor and based on my age we thought it was ulcerative colitis but scheduled a colonoscopy....22 polyps later and a diagnosis of cancer. Not only that my intestine got perforated and I basically turned septic. 5 long days in the hospital with a brush of death I finally got to go home not without issues though. After battling abscesses and infections for 3 weeks I had emergency surgery (with a 101 fever). Thankfully they were able to get rid of the cancer but I woke up with a colostomy. My worst nightmare had come true...39 years old and I’m shitting out of my stomach. A bag that was supposed to save my life but made me consider suicide on a daily basis - go figure the one thing keeping me alive and all I wanted to do was die. Good news...3 months later the colostomy was reversed and I’m still cancer free. Even though I was stage 1 due to this I am still being treated like a stage 2-3 patient. Moral of the story....if you’re getting symptoms (I don’t care how old you are) go get checked out.....
