Why I Run
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!" -Rocky Balboa
This quote speaks to my friend Sharon and the past year she has had. As some of you may know, my friend Sharon was diagnosed with rectal cancer this past May at age "40-something" ( I will spare Sharon and not reveal her true age :). Too young in my opinion! This year has been tough but if anyone has met Sharon before, you know that she is tougher. Cancer picked the wrong person to F@$! with. If anyone is reading this, I want the take home message to be 1) know your family history, 2) talk to your PCP if you are noticing any issues and 3) get your colonoscopy! I know the test sucks but cancer sucks even more.
This year, I am participating in the Chicago Undy RunWalk on June 1, 2019 at Lincoln Park South Fields. Please support my involvement in the Undy RunWalk with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives. Or even better, join the team by clicking the "Join Team" button! Tikes Tushies is the team!
