Carla began the journey to overcome cancer 25 months ago. We knew early on it was going to be a challenge. The initial doctors provided us little hope and a short period to live. We fired them immediately! We quickly sought out the best doctors between UTSW, MD Anderson, John Hopkins and Cancer Center Associates of McKinney.
We ended up with Dr Kahn of Cancer Centers as her primary and Dr Wolff of MDA as the 2nd opinion doctor......two of the best doctors and people on this earth. Together we formulated a strategy to allow us to fight the cancer and live our lives as normal as possible. We took 3 vacations, went to sporting events and family gatherings when times were good. We had some really bad times but Carla would never let anyone know, she never asked for help and was very private about her personal battle to beat stage 4 colorectal cancer.
The past few months have been very difficult as the chemo medicines stopped working. We never gave up and began alternative medicines. I wish I had the strength Carla had to keep fighting. She beat the odds by doubling what we were told to expect. She was the bravest person who never gave up hope. She can now rest in peace.
