Katherine Jones Henderson
Katherine Burdette Jones Henderson, age 31, passed away June 28, 2018, after fighting a valiant battle against colorectal cancer with grace and strength. Katherine was born in Houston, Texas on December 16, 1986 to Bonnie and Rocky Jones. She married the love of her life, William Stewart Henderson, in Houston on October 1, 2016. Katherine and William lived in Dallas with their adorable Maltipoo, Bodhi.
She had endless love for her close-knit family, from her two sisters, Megan and Claire, to her brothers-in-law, Jason, Clay and Matt to her many cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Her role as Aunt Katieburd to Henry and Jane, children of Megan and Jason, gave her much joy. She was honored to be godmother to Winston, son of her dear friends Allie and Andrew Robinson.
In her early years, Katherine and her family lived in numerous cities outside of Texas, finally returning to Houston in 1997. She graduated with an IB Diploma from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in 2005. In 2009, after graduating with honors from Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a B.A. in Advertising, she progressed to be a Senior Project Manager with Ansira in Dallas.
Her time with the sisters of Delta Delta Delta was a highlight at SMU, as well as being a founding member of the women’s lacrosse club team. Her family and friends, including those from high school, college, Heart of the Hills summer camp, and select soccer teams, meant everything to her.
Katherine was a guiding light to her family and strong circle of friends. Her bright spirit, intelligence, creativity and kind heart were felt by all. She made it easy to be the daughter and daughter-in-law to be loved forever with our whole heart.
All funds raised in honor of Katherine will be directed to the Never Too Young Campaign. This Campaign focuses on education and research into colorectal cancer in patients diagnosed under the age of 50.
