Thank you for visiting this site dedicated to raising funds for the Colon Cancer Alliance in honor of our late mother, Marcella Perrigo.
Marcella was a beautiful person who always looked for the “silver lining”. She was joyful, kind and caring to all of the many friends and family around her. Marcella was constantly helping others and had a generous spirit. She was loving, loyal and adored being a mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother. We all miss her terribly.
Marcella was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in April of 2017. She had surgery to remove the tumor and endured six months of chemotherapy. These treatments sent her cancer into remission. My sister and I were thrilled, and decided to celebrate the end of her treatments by going on a cruise through the Hawaiian Islands with her. We all thought she had beaten the cancer, and that she was now cancer-free.
Unfortunately, just as Marcella returned from the cruise in Hawaii, she felt very ill. Her cancer had returned with a vengeance, invading her pancreas, lymph nodes and lungs. More treatments were tried, but on December 1, 2018 Marcella passed away from Colon Cancer at 75 years of age. Marcella’s family and friends were devastated by her death.
Please, don’t let this happen in your family! Take the time to get screened; take the time for your recommended colonoscopy. Our Mom did not feel ill at the time of her diagnosis, and an earlier colonoscopy could have saved her life.
Please consider donating to Colon Cancer Alliance, in Marcella's memory, to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this devastating disease.
