Michael Runs 13.1 for Colorectal Cancer Alliance
Most people probably don't know this about me, but I used to be a big runner. When I moved back to DC and got busy that took a back seat to all the great work I figured I was doing to help patients and families with Colorectal Cancer. I gained weight, lost some hair, and generally was feeling tired all the time. So I said I have to change this if I want to be around for the 40 or 50 years. I joined CrossFit in February of 2018, and started running again. In 2018 I ran two half marathons and plan on doing the same again this year.
So I am heading to Virginia Beach to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon on behalf of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and all of those who are touched by this senseless disease over Labor Day Weeken. While I may be running the 13.1 miles you can join me from afar! I have a goal to raise $13,100, that’s $1,000 per mile! The money raised will go towards the funding of research and prevention to get us that much closer to ending this disease in our lifetime.
I will be sharing my journey with you all! From training runs before work to arriving in Virginia Beach with my husband Nathan William Mattson, board member Melissa Lynch and one of our best friends and Allies Pamela Lynne Sorensen. This is a fun event and I am so looking forward to having you join me on this adventure. You can follow along here on this fundraising page or follow me on Twitter at @Coloncancermike. See you in VA Beach! #RunWithMike
PS: My goal is to run it in under 1:45
