Alphonse F. Capalbo
CAPALBO, ALPHONSE F. of Johnston passed away from a brief illness on Monday, January 27 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Claire M. (DiPietro) Capalbo. They were married for 45 years.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Domenic and Divina (Principe) Capalbo. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving daughter, Stephanie (Capalbo) Guiffre and her husband Michael of Fairfax Station, Virginia, his cherished and adored granddaughters, Megan Elizabeth, Mia Ya Wen and Olivia Nicole Guiffre and his dear brother, Domenic R. Capalbo of West Warwick and his dear sister, Dolores (Capalbo) Parise of Hope. He is also survived by his dear nieces and nephews.
Mr Capalbo was a graduate of Providence College. He was a math teacher with the Cranston School Department for 32 years. After his retirement from Cranston Public Schools, he taught at Ocean Tides for 14 years. In this position, he devoted himself to mentoring and supporting educationally challenged boys. His greatest prides and joys were his loving wife, daughter and granddaughters.
Mr Capalbo was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending his summers at Rhode Island beaches and his winters in Florida. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church for 45 years.
His funeral is Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from ''WOODLAWN'' Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Hartford Ave. , Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday January 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
