Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me and appreciate all the support!
Some may or may not know, but here is my story...
My mother, Gertrude Rice, received her diagnosis in June 2014. She underwent a temporary ostomy, several aggressive rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. We later found out that the cancer spread to her liver which led to more surgeries and chemotherapy. She kept this all a secret from most for nearly 2 years, while she continued everyday life being the best mother, wife, and friend. In January 2017, her team of doctors discovered tumors in her lungs and a significantly large tumor was found in her colon... still she fought with a smile and positivity. My mother lost her battle on March 28, 2017.
For those that knew my mother, you know she never felt sorry for herself and she refused to let cancer become a crutch. She lived every day the best she could whether it was a treatment day or just a Sunday dinner kind of day.
I pray that I can raise awareness for colorectal cancer and encourage everyone to listen to your body and speak to your doctor when something just isn't right. This type of cancer goes undetected very often until the later stages which makes treatment even more difficult.
Together we can make a difference!
