Susan Oberreither & John Green
Once again, the Crum & Forster A&H team is kicking off the summer with some good will and good fun! Each year, we gather a group of over sixty employees, friends and family to participate in the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run in Spring Lake, New Jersey, and we use this event as an opportunity to raise money for charity. This year, we will be running for the Colon Cancer Alliance in honor of our good friend Susan Oberreither, who thanks to a full year of treatment has recently been restaged to "no evidence of disease," and in memory of our friend John Green, who lost his battle in May of 2015.
Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that this year 136,830 people will be diagnosed and 50,310 will die from this disease. Since the mid-1980s, the colon cancer survival rate has been increasing, due in part to increased awareness and screening. Improved treatment options have also contributed to a rise in survival rates. The mission of the Colon Cancer Alliance is to knock colon cancer out of the top three cancer killers by championing prevention, funding cutting-edge research and providing the highest quality patient support services.
Over the past several years, the Crum & Forster A&H team has raised over $74,000 for ALS, childhood cancer, mental health and various other causes through the generosity of our clients, colleagues and friends. We are asking you to join us this year in supporting Colon Cancer Alliance to help make a difference to those in need.
Thanks again for your support!
