In Memory Of Joy A. Pillsbury

Created by Kaiti Porter

Joy Pillsbury

My mom was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in February of 2011 at the age of 49. At the time of her diagnosis, she was given nine months to live.

That was six and a half years ago. She fought every, single day for the past six and half years until she took her last breath, at the age of 56, on September 27, 2017.

My mom will be remembered for her blunt honesty, her unfiltered humor, her unparalleled strength, her strong will to live & beat this awful disease and mostly, how much she truly cared for others.

Please consider making a contribution in my mother's memory so that we can work to find a cure for this terrible disease & no other son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, husband or wife will have to go through the pain & sorrow that my family is going through right now.

In your honor for your bravery & fighting spirit; you fought your 9 month "death sentence" to spend another 6 1/2 years with your family & friends. My heart goes out to your family. I know you are looking down on them from Heaven.

Rebecca and I wish to honor Joy's fighting spirit. She fought a long and difficult battle. We pray, as we are certain that Joy prayed, for the discovery of a cure for cancer so that future generations will never have to experience what Joy--a beautiful woman, a loving wife and mother and a person of faith--endured. And while we all know that Joy is now holding hands with her brother--a sister and a brother encircled in the arms of our Lord and Savior--and that she is no longer in pain or suffering, she will be missed and never forgotten by those whose lives she touched.

I miss you more than you know, Mom. I pray everyday that they will find a cure for this horrible disease. See you later. I love you.
