Why I Run
On July 20th, I will be participating in my 8th Buffalo Undy Run/Walk. I brought this event to Buffalo in 2012 while my mom was battling stage IV colon cancer.
Diagnosed at age 57, my mom fought bravely before losing her battle in March of 2012, about eight months after she was diagnosed. Our family lost the most loving and beautiful soul. She was a friend, a teacher, a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and newly appointed grandma to my oldest son, Patrick. It breaks my heart that he and his little sister, Evelyn, will never know her, or get to have her in their lives.
I participate in the Undy Run/Walk to raise awareness about the importance of knowing your family history and getting screened for colorectal cancer. I believe that had my mom been screened before age 57, she would still be here with us, enjoying her family, retirement, and her grandchildren. SCREENING SAVES LIVES!!
Please support my involvement in the Undy RunWalk with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives.
Better yet, join our team! My mom’s motto was always “the more the merrier” and EVERYONE is welcome to join us in her memory.
