Why I Run
February 2019 - my life changed! After a home fecal kit detected trace of blood I followed up with a routine colonoscopy. A malignant cancer mass was found! I've since had that portion of my colon removed. I'm one of the lucky ones and feel so blessed by all the love and support I've had through my journey!. The mass had not penetrated the colon wall and had not spread to any other organs or lymph nodes and I was staged at 2. My family and I have named my cancer journey "Piece Out Movement" because they took a PIECE of my colon out (12 inches) and MOVEMENT because....well, that's OBVIOUS considering what the colon does!!
I am participating in the Portland Undy RunWalk on June 15, 2019 at Willamette Park. The National Undy RunWalk is not just an opportunity to run or walk in your underwear. It is a family-friendly undy-themed RunWalk created by the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, with the goal to provide support for patients and families, caregivers, and survivors; to raise awareness of preventive measures; I want to raise awareness for others to get their routine fecal kits and colonoscopies done!!! Early detection is KEY!!!!
Please support my involvement in the Undy RunWalk with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives.
