Why I Run
My family is participating in the Portland Undy RunWalk on June 15, 2019 at Willamette Park.
Please support my involvement in the Undy RunWalk with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives.

In April 2018, days before my 39th birthday, my world was rocked with a shocking diagnosis: Colorectal Cancer (stage IV). This past year has unapologetically been the most challenging of my life. With the tenacious support of dear friends, loving family, and an exceptional medical team, I have just completed an arduous course of treatment (chemo, radiation & multiple surgeries) and can now victoriously proclaim to be “cancer free!”
Don’t ASSume you’re too young! Colorectal cancer isn’t just a 50+ disease. The rates of young onset are rising (rather mysteriously) at an alarming rate. Don’t ASSume you and your loved ones don’t need to get checked! The new recommended age for screening is 45. Don’t ASSume you’re safe! I had no family history nor genetic markers to predicate a cancer diagnosis. Don’t ASSume you can’t save your own ass! Pay attention to your body and please, please, please booty call your doctor if experiencing any symptoms. Don’t ASSume everyone knows! Advocate for yourself and your health, as I’m now advocating for greater awareness, resources, and research to address this horrible - yet one of the most preventable - disease!
Don’t ASSume we can’t beat this! Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the U.S. yet largely treatable if caught early. Don’t ASSume we don’t need your support to end this disease within our lifetime! In my particular case, there is a 50% chance of recurrence - the battle is certainly not over. Don’t ASSume colorectal cancer won’t affect you! Yup, as the saying goes... "don't make an ASS out of you and me!"
Thank you for your support. Whether it's $4 or $40, our collective contributions will make a difference. I’ve included information about Colorectal Cancer Alliance below.
