Why I Run
It’s time once again for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s Undy Run/Walk to raise funds for colorectal cancer! For 2019 the Sacramento event will take place on February 16 in Land Park. My team, “Screen Your Booty”, raised almost $4000 last year, and our team was one of the top fundraisers of the event. I hope to do the same this year. With your generous support, I know I can!
As you know, it was almost 8 years ago that a 1 cm tumor was discovered in my small intestine, (near where the small intestine and the large intestine or colon meet), from a colonoscopy. Twenty-two lymph nodes were removed, and 1 was cancerous. I am still cancer-free, and I am participating in this event to raise awareness that colorectal cancer can be prevented, if people get screened in a timely fashion.
Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most common type of cancer, and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death. With your generous contribution, we can reduce the number of people who succumb to this disease. A portion of the funds raised for this event will go to programs throughout California that will help those less advantaged to get screened. Won’t you join me as a Screen Your Booty participant in the run/walk this year, or if you aren’t able to attend, make a donation? Every little bit helps! And don’t forget to ask your doctor when YOU should get screened. Screening saved my life!
