Why I Run
I am participating in the D.C. ScopeItOut on March 31st at Freedom Plaza in honor of my young cousin Simon. Simon is battling colon cancer with the support of his wife Leslie, their two little sons, loving parents, siblings, in-laws and friends.
Colon cancer is now the second leading cause of cancer death among men and women combined. Only 25% of people diagnosed with the disease have a family history.
While the incidence of colon cancer in people over 50 has gradually decreased, it has increased among those of us under 50. For this reason, the American Cancer Society last year updated its guidelines for colorectal screening from age 50 to 45 for people with average risk.
Please support my involvement in the ScopeItOut with a tax-deductible donation. Your support will help us prevent colorectal cancer and save lives.
